General Information
- Palliative care nurses visit cancer patients at their homes.
- Home visits are conducted everyday except for Tuesdays, weekends, and public holidays.
- Every Friday: Home visits with one House Officer (HO) or Medical Officer (MO) from Miri Hospital when considered necessary by the doctors.
- Visits in Miri area are only within a radius of 50 kilometres (50 km).
Home Programme: Objectives
- Give moral support to patients and families.
- Give SUPPORTING nursing care and educate the families/carers about proper care.
- Ensure that patients take their medication correctly.
- Answer questions from family members or patients about the disease.

- New case registrations: within 48 hours to 1 week
- Already registered patients: every 2 weeks

- Cancer patient who has been registered with Palliative Care Association of Miri
- Approval or consent form from patient and family members
- A caretaker must be available
Who Should Register?
Terminally ill cancer patients should register for the Home Programme.
How To Register?
- Patient has a medical record stating cancer disease
- Must have referral letter from government/private hospital or clinic

Once a referral is accepted, a palliative care nurse will make contact/call each patient and the family before the home visit. PCAM only provides support services during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM) for registered patients.
