If you wish to refer a patient to Palliative Care Association of Miri, kindly ensure that the referral is made by a specialist or doctor. As this service works best as a complement to medical care, a proper referral can provide us with relevant medical information about the cancer patient. This helps our palliative care team to arrange a time to visit patient based on the patient’s health condition.
Once a referral is accepted, a palliative care nurse will make contact/call family member or patient within 48 hours or 2 weeks based on patient’s health condition. The patient and family will be visited, assessed, and provided with explanation of their respective roles. Other healthcare professionals such as our volunteer doctors, palliative care nurses and designated volunteers may also be involved in patient care.
A palliative care nurse will contact/call each patient and the family by phone before the home visit. Palliative Care Association of Miri only provides services support during office hours (Monday – Friday 8.30am-4.30pm) for registered patients.
For any assistance, kindly contact us at 012-8456480 (Monday – Friday 8.30am-4.30pm).
